With over 29 years of experience in education as a teacher, headteacher and leading adviser for school improvement, Alex Bedford is incredibly proud to be the Curriculum Development Director for Unity Schools Partnership and its Research School.

Alex is the proud author of three highly acclaimed books. His first book, Pupil Book Study – a dialogic and evidence-led toolkit to help evaluate the endurance of learning throughout the curriculum, helped reshape Ofsted’s national policy and heavily influenced the deep dive methodology. He has collaborated with brilliant educationalists to write further publications, including, Pupil Book Study: Reading with Lauren Meadows and his newest book - EYFS: Language of Learning with Julie Sherrington, all published through John Catt Education.

Alex worked as an Associate Consultant for the Institute of Education, UCL. His curriculum writing and resources have been highly praised by Professor Rob Coe and Clare Sealy (Head of Curriculum and Standards for Guernsey).

His rule for school is simple: teach with evidence-informed excellence and never write anyone off.
