Loic Menzies
Chief Research Officer, Centre for Education Systems
Loic is a Visiting Fellow at Sheffield Institute of Education and a Senior Research Associate in Jesus College Cambridge’s Intellectual Forum. He is a regular commentator on education issues in the media and is frequently called on by government to advise on policy. Among other research projects, Loic is currently Chief Research Officer of CES, a new institute conducting rigorous reviews of education systems around the world. He previously founded the 'think and action-tank' at The Centre for Education and Youth, which he grew and led for 12 years. He is also an Associate Fellow at the IPPR.
Loic has authored numerous influential reports and research studies focusing on educational equity; assessment and accountability; the schools workforce; and the policy making process. He was co-editor of the book “Young People on the Margins" which was published by Routledge in Spring 2021. He is currently finishing his second book, 'How Policy Happens: Understanding the decisions that shape our education system', also for Routledge.
Prior to working in research and policy, Loic was a youth worker in Cambridge, a teacher in London, and then a tutor in teacher education at Canterbury Christ Church University. He has also been a school governor and a trustee of a number of youth and social entrepreneurship charities.
