Kate Godfrey

Director of Governance, Ark Schools
Kate Godfrey is Director of Governance and Risk at Ark, where she leads on governance across both the schools and central operations. She began her career overseas, working on major education projects and governance for the international organisations including the UN. Over the years, she’s worked in over 60 countries, with a particular focus on the Levant, CIS, and North Africa. After returning to the UK in her thirties, Kate moved into roles in Westminster and political engagement before building a career in law and governance with some of the country’s top academy trusts. She’s now balancing life with three small children and, like many of us, is leaning on AI to help keep things manageable.

Data and information governance is more critical than ever to ensure that individuals’ data is protected, and that data is used ethically and responsibly, by people and, increasingly, by AI. This panel explores best practice policies and processes that trusts should have in place, with insights from Ark Schools, Central Region Schools Trust, and Dixons Academies Trust, sharing their respective approaches to implementing effective data and AI governance.
