Navigating online conspiracies and misinformation: How trusts can build schools that confidently question, test, and hold knowledge

This panel brings together perspectives on how trust leaders can approach the impact of online conspiracies and misinformation on pupils, staff and communities. Drawing on initial findings from the Commission into Countering Online Conspiracies in Schools and the National Institute of Teaching’s work at the Centre for Digital Information Literacy, we will consider the implications for curriculum, pedagogy, and leadership practice, asking what are trusts noticing in their communities? Where are current approaches proving effective, and where are they more challenging? What kinds of knowledge, skills and judgement do staff need to navigate misinformation and conspiracy theory with confidence? Ideal for CEOs, directors of education, safeguarding leads and headteachers.
