1 Breakout sessions: Series three

The future of headship: Who will lead our schools in the decade ahead?

Who will lead our schools in the decade ahead, and what will they need to succeed? This session explores one of the sector's most pressing workforce challenges: securing a strong pipeline of future headteachers. Bringing together trust and school perspectives, speakers will examine how expectations of headship are changing, the competencies and attributes most critical for success, and what makes the role attractive and sustainable for current and future leaders. Through discussion and shared insight, delegates will explore emerging thinking on the capabilities future headteachers will require and consider the implications for recruitment, retention and succession across the sector. Ideal for CEOs, chief people officers, directors of education and trust executive teams.
